Default Tranny questions

I have a B18a1 in my car with what I believe is a cable ls tranny...the code on the tranny (on the sticker next to the engine code on the block) is S1 1069151...can anyone tell me if this is the tranny I think it is and also, I heard that the LS tranny should be tached at like 3.5k at 80 while mine is at 4.1k at 80 mph with 205/50/15 tires. I was thinking about putting a GSR tranny in there. What improvement would I see in my quarter mile times and what would my rpm be around 80mph with that tranny? Thanks in advance.

the gsr cable is very very hard to come by...i also think u should go with a b16 cable tranny..it would be faster since its like the shortest geared cable tranny..and ur 80mph would be at 4750..but install a ls 5th and call it a day...atleast thats what imma do...

well that was the point of the gsr so I can still keep the revs down somewhat. I wanted the added benefit of the 3rd-5th gear being just a little shorter than the ls so I would gain a little accel and sacrafice a little top end...by the way, with the b16 tranny, what is the mph when it is tached to 7k in 4th?

+1 gsr trans is not much longer or lower rpm than b16 trans...i know 70 mph with 205 50 15 in 5th gear is like 4300-4500 rpms...gsr would stick u at like 4100-4300.........go with a slightly larger (taller) tire to comsensate for rpm on highway...............or b16 with LS 5th gear

I just feel like it would suck because yeah I would be pulling through 1st 2nd 3rd 4th then pow it will feel like I hit sludge in the road if I had the LS 5th but I also know I don't wanna drive around town tached to almost 4k! My 4k is at 80mph right now...the reason I was asking what the b16 tranny in 4 gear at 7k rpm was in mph was because I know that right now I don't need to see 5th in the quarter and my top speed for my 4th gear at 7k is 106ish. I need to know if I will be seeing 5th with the b16 tranny in the quarter mile with a 7k shift point because if I do have to shift to 5th I will probably pull a slower quarter with the b16 tranny installed.

As for the tires...I just bought 205/50/15 Kumho Ecsta ASTs (all four) about a week ago so new tires are out of the question.

How much do you think a tranny with a b16 1st-2nd, GSR 3rd-4th, LS 5th would cost? I wish I could do b16 1st-3rd GSR 4th LS 5th but I think that this combination wouldn't be possible.

from what i found the b16 tranny with ls 5th is the only way ull have a decent 5th at 80..the gsr tranny shows actually the smallest 5th gear then the crx sir tranny then the xsi tranny..then ls..so what i would do is try to find a s1/j1 b16 cable and add a ls 5th..itll have the same 2.3.4 as gsr tranny...longer first then the gsr but shorter then the y1 b16..and obviously a ls5th...only thing "faster" would be the gsr trans all together but itll top out before the b16 trans would...so u could get a ys1 gsr and swap out ls 5th for an awesome set up as well

Now I have a lightweight flywheel in my tranny right now will that bolt up to the b16 tranny too? What improvement would I expect with that tranny verse the LS in a quarter mile run with the same motor...about .2 + or -?
