your better off boosting a b series or k series.d series boost isn't worth it imo.things you will need tho are:
ecu chipped
ecu tuned
built engine(pistons,rods,sleeved)
upgraded map sensor
bov(optional)
aftermarket intake manifold(optional, will give you morepower though.)
custom exaust.
feel free to correct me or add anything else if I forgot.I think I got mostly everything.

a built motor basically has:
low comp(for turbo or
pistons
forged connecting rods
crankshaft
iron ductile sleeves
that's the bottom end(the block)
top end(head):
upgraded valves
upgraded valve springs
upgraded retainers
upgraded rocker arms
upgraded camshaft
cam gears
there are other things you can do to further build it(block guards, gaskets, port and polish,3 angle valve job)
it really depends on your power goals as to how far you have to build it.

you'll want to upgrade your fuel delivery system also.I.e injectors,fuel rail,fpr(fuel pressure regulator)fuel pump(walbro 255lph).

You can run 20lbs of boost through a stock d-series.....you could probably find a small enough turbo to run 50 lbs of boost on a stock d-series. Things you need to search, read and learn about......
boost levels don't matter.....boost levels with different turbos do. Don't put the money into the car.....as cheap as you plan on being, you will probably blow it up time and time again.
Otherwise, pistson, rods, sleeves, nice turbo, 255 pump, 750+cc injectors, good tuner.
