paintin intercooler bad??

Default paintin intercooler bad??

just curious if painting the intercooler black is hurtful or doesnt matter?...i dont want it real noticable so i wanted to paint it a flat black and put a mesh grill in front of it on my crx..so it fits the color scheme with the black molding..but if it robs hp or something ill do without..info plz..

i c some people do it i dont think it wouold rob u of power unless it affect the cooling process but dont hold me to it

thats what im wondering...does it reduce air flow with the paint or powdercoating on there..or does it not do anything..anybodys for sure know..maybe dyno proven?? ty

i c people do it all the time ive never heard of it hurting or robing power of anything so i think it should be ok not completly sure ttt

why dont you just go on http://www.johnnyracecar.com, wait till he starts up again, and get a full size black one for a really decent price.

we put one of these on my buddys talon turbo, and the quality was very good, well worth the price. or try and find a black one.

the only thing i would worry about with painting is, the key to an intercooler's efficiency is surface area, and in the small spaces between the fins, you will be reducing surface area.

whether it actually makes any difference is beyond me.

but thats just my opinion.

its not like your running 600+hp so dont worry about a 4-5* temp difference. yes it alters the cooling ability because the aluminum is coated, but its so miniscule, its not worth stressin over.

also had that in mind too..i just was seeing if anyone had dyno results maybe..but i think it wont matter to much..aiming for 350whp..nothin crazy

i have had both, never dynoed b4 or after, but i didnt notice a difference, still went quick with a black interchiller...

thin coats wont affect anything from what ive seen.... i wouldnt use a brush and coat it on thick or nething lol.
