what about some extended wheel studs to be safe with spacers?
u gotta shave the outer caliper bracket..the spokes sit right on top of it when the wheel is tightened down...

spacers are perfectly safe. Ive ran 3 or 4 sets of hx's with spacers on 3 different cars with no problems.
