Default 20' flames from my engine bay

just kidding, but seriously, my other thread got no views and i see people are logged in so i guess my topic wasn't captivating.

i am assuming it's called the heater core hose? it goes from the head of my LS to the firewall and i believe into my heater core. this hose was bulging a little bit and today it finally split. i plan on replacing it asap, like tonight, but wasn't sure if i would need to do anything special besides take the old one off and put the new one on. honda-tech's search feature owns me and won't give me good results on this topic so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again for the help. i had searched this and came up with an elleventybillion page write up on flushing your coolant system i found on teamintegra. i knew it had to be less complicated than all that. i just have one question; is it ok to add the coolant to the resivior or do really need to run my car with the radiator cap off and add it there? thanks

its so easy i had to replace mine on the side of the road in downtown tampa on my coupe

also after you replace the hose if you see the car overheating it means there is an airbubble in the cooling system and you need to bleed it out.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

thank for the encouragement! i went to 4 autoparts stores and nobody had the hose. i did a quick fix by just cutting the hose back 2 inches, as the crack was just left of the hose clamp, and i added some 70-30 mix of coolant and ran with the radiator cap off. will that bleed the system or do i need to loosen the bolt on the block and drain some fluid? does anybody have a link? the one i found on team integra is harder to follow imo.

+1 for chi town and derka.

The air bleed may be on top of the t-stat housing, and will let air out
at startup if the radiator cap is on.

Another fix is to put in (home depot) copper tubing to replace the hose, and only use rubber where the hose clamps go.-Bob

you also might want to think ahead of time here...

if one hose is going out, it probably wont be too long before you start having more problems....

if you go to Majestic Honda - The Internet's #1 Honda Automotive Parts Store you can order ALL the OEM pre-bent hoses and i think it comes out to around $45 for all of em, plus shipping. then you wouldnt have to worry about anything...

S2racing: I will be replacing all the hoses. i just had this engine put in like 45 days ago by a friend. important things like timing belt and water pumpwere replaced, but the old hoses were used to cut costs, as i had to spend a bunch of bread i didn't have bla bla bla. Good looking out though, if i had changed them in the by gone weeks i wouldn't have had this problem. I orded the hose package moments ago.

Bob: thanks for the gypsie rig advice, it's allways good to know that kind of stuff incase the situation calls for drastic measures. i funnelled coolant into the hose before i reconnected it so i think that kept me from having an issue, or the bleed valve did it's job. i also added coolant when the heat was on full blast as derka said.

Once again Thank You to everybody that took the time to help me out.
