Default B16a troubleshooting help needed...

Problem: shes not running
Powerplant: B16a, with OBD1 PR3 ECU
Signs/Symptoms: car has plenty of battery power, turn key and she trys to turn over. If I place the car in gear and turn key she trys to creep forward (or back if in reverse).

What happened: there seems to be a short in the wiring harness or ecu, when the car was bought the above items were thrown hodgepodge in the passenger side footwell ... Harness looks to be the culprite but ECU cover was off and looks like someone had their way with it

Its a PR3 so no blinking light, I fixed it once I had soldered some of the wiring connections and dropped it all on the floor board, started right up. Next day I started her up no problem, I decided to clean up the floor board area and placed the ecu and harness along the firewall under the carpeting. Drove to work and upon of getting out she stops working again (basicly the same symptoms as before the fix) I have tried to check all connections, checked the ECU for power, checked all solders, everything looks OK.

I don't know if it might be the main relay, I opened it up and it looks like there was some soldering done but it was super clean work so I figure it is OEM. ECU fuse is good. I think that the ECU is not sending signal to the Fuel pump/injectors, but not sure.

As I'm not a real mechanic I'm at wits end, anyone have an idea? I'm starting to look for another ECU to see if it might be the problem but there kinda hard to find for the right price

what do I do next???

[I concur with Elluzionz on the fuel and spark. Check the plastic plug-ins
at the coil, One falls loose, but not out, and the spark dies.
------------------
If the prob is intermittent, a wire may be broken within
the harness or at one of the plastic plug-ins.

That is easiest to find when it is running, and you start wiggling
wires. It stops running when you find the broken one.

Next easiest is visual inspection if it won't run.
Next easiest is (or last ditch-rats!) continuity test the wires.

Let us know what you find.-Bob

Yea I tried that but could not pinpoint the exact wire(s) effected, but Its like in the middle plug (OBD1).... I have to get her running first so I can try it again, but I would do that at home since I have her at my job and hate when I'm missing a tool or test equipment. She runs really good, and is fast but I have to isolate and fix the problem. Bad thing is I might have to eBay her, I need a truck for work
