eg hatchz: How to reset engine light
How do I reset the engine light? Ever since the new motor has been installed the light has been on...I did what the book said but the light is still on.
lol yea i think everyone i know has had the same problem.. incuding myself.. when i put the ls swep in my eg the light came on and never wentaway.. i changed ecu and it was off fora couple days. then came back on.. the best way for me WAS TO TAKE OUT THE DAM CHECKENGINE LIGHT LOL lol and hey it workt for some reason. but getting a chipped ecu should make it go away just let the person knw whos doing it that you want it off.. i dnt knw anything about programing ecu s but thats my 2 cents..

You might want to see what code its throwing first, then go from there. Anyone who takes the CEL out deserves to be kicked in the nuts for being stupid.And to ansewer the question. You pull the postive side off the battery for 1min, then reconnet it and the ecu resets :-0

lol I just replaced my cluster with a 5 speed cluster (I did the auto - manual conversion) & the cluster I was putting in had the check enginbe light removed... WTF....... Makes you think everythig is cool & them bam its fucked

an ls swap should yield no check engine ights if done correctly.....so either you gangsta wired it up and fucked it up or there is somthing wrong with your swap.....read the code and see why the light is on....
i know someone that had a code for o2 sensor just ignored it and he ran so rich that his cat heated up so much that it caught his undercarrage on fire!

how would a cat heat up from running rich, EGTs drop when you run rich, and Rise when you run lean. Correct me if im wrong, but i see that as highly unlikely.

the extra gas was burning up in the cat because the cat was doing its job...this has nothing to do with egts....cats burn up extra hydrocarbons....the manifold and downpipe where at normal operating temperature however the cat was glowing more than a turbo manifold at the track. make sure you know what your talking about before you embassress yourself.
