Default 00 Civic Ex speedo problem

After i changed my longblock today the speedo stopped working. Its throwing the code for the sensor and also my cruise stopped working. Both were working perfectly fine before the swap and they were simply unplugged and plugged back in.I'm pretty sure the cruise is tied in with the speedo but i dont understand why it would simply just quit working not being fucked with.Ive erased the code once and it came back.If anything i can try one next week from a 96-98 hopefully its the same sensor.

all you changed was the block? did you plug the VSS back in?

you may have a bad VSS, it happens on occasion, but not very often.

check the plug at the VSS to make sure you are getting voltage. if my memory serves me it should be 5V ish...?

I got a used longblock not a tranny. All i did was unplug it and plug it back in to get more slack for the engine harness.

well if you just unplugged it, and plugged it back in, and now it doesnt work, either:

a) the wiring changed

b) the VSS changed/got broke

c) you changed something else you dont know about

it doesnt matter... you should still get some reading...

the VSS is just a gear that spins off another gear thats mounted on the differential. if the VSSs are working, which i would assume at least one is, then you should get some reading at the speedo, unless there is a problem with either the wiring or the cluster itself.

i was running a D16 trans (with a D16 VSS) for a coupla months while i had an Si cluster (that reads off a B16) and it all worked fine, just off by a few MPH cuz of the final drive difference....
