Default When my car gets warm it wants to run like SH*T!

I just put a new Alternator on it thinking it would work. It started up fine, i revved it. Idled perfect. Seemed like once it got hot, it idled rough. id go to rev it and sounded like it was gasping for air and then die, and once i let off it would still idle rough. What took a dump on me?

go to autozone and run the OBD checker, or get a paper-clip and jump the harness next to the ECU and check for other malfunctions.

then pull off your intake and make sure the FITV isnt sucking mad air when its hot. this would be a very easy fix and might explain the prob (too much air = shitty running)

haha no prob man, i should have elaborated.

there is a small green harness on most hondas next to the ECU in the passenger footwell. if you jump the two terminals with a paper clip, the CEL will blink whatever codes you have. long blinks are tens digits, short blinks are singles digits. it will blink whatever codes you have, then repeat itself indefinitely. its just quicker than going to autozone.

FITV is the fast idle thermo valve. it is a 4" long, sideways lookin metal cylinder mounted on the bottom of the throttle body. it controls idle when the engine is cold, but, if not properly adjusted, it will allow air to enter when the engine is hot (which is not what you want). so if you pull off the intake while the car is running and at full op temp, you should feel NO suction on the lower port in the TB.

good luck.
