Default question about my B&M regulator

Right now i am just running the 255L in line pump without the regulator hooked up but i am fouling out plugs every few mins. I have been looking around about what PSI i should have it set at. from the looks of it its anywhere from 28-46psi. i am about to go get a gauge so i can dial it in. Its a bone stock D16a6 motor. any guesses about what i should start at psi wise? thanks Rich

Now i just was driving the car around its bogging so bad. even at half throttle the car is falling on its ass. i put it at 30psi and its dropping to almost nothing when its at almost redline. But this is all with the car just sitting in neutral but it sounds good the motor revs freely and it seems to run fine. but the second i get in the car and drive it with it in gear it falls flat on its ass. I have checked everything. changed my plugs again thinking maybe they were fouled out. i am almost at a loss right now. Come on guys please throw out anything i will look over the car again and use your advise. Thanks again Rich

the only reason i said 28-46 in your last post was because i didnt know the motor. stock Y7 DX's run 28 psi, up to the C5's, which run 46 psi. like Cronic said, your A6 should run much closer to the 30 psi end of the spectrum. do you have a haynes/chilton manual? they will tell you what the idle regulator/no regulator fuel pressure should be...

anywho, ive heard that AE sells filter-mounted gauges for like $15, so you might want to check on that, just cuz it would be quick and easy. im assuming you have all the vacuum hoses hooked up right?

thanks guys. I am still alittle puzzled about my problem. the car revs happy when its out of gear but when its in gear it falls flat. i am guessing now it could be a sensor. i am at a loss.

why are you puzzled? the problem is you have nothing to regulate pressure, so its running the same thing at idle and normal cruising under vaccuum, that it would at WOT... Not good man...
