Default new problems.

here is the story. I bought a 93 si awhile back. The guy who owned the car used dot4 brake fluid for some odd reason. The guy that I bought the car off of was his friend and was selling it for him. He took some of the brake parts and swapped them with his civic for some reason. He did this before he knew the guy used dot4. So heres where im at now. I bleed the brakes pretty well, or at least what i think is pretty well but im still not getting any brake pressure.

Heres the way i bleed the brakes. I went in the order of passenger back wheel, driver front, driver back, passanger front. I poored dot 3 in the MC. I opened the bleed valve and pumped the pedal to try and get all the dot4 out of the lines. Then i closed the bleed valve and submerged the line in brake fluid. Then pressed and held the pedal. I opened the valve and waited untill the flow stopped. I did this on each wheel and still no pressure. I mean, that sounds like a pretty good bleed to me.

Im starting to wonder if some of the parts he swapped on arent good or arent compatible. my si's not abs right? i think only 94 and 95's where abs. The parts he put on came off a 4 door civic but i think there compatible right? any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

mabey. I hate to buy more parts without knowing if it has something to do with the mixture of dot4 and dot3. Anybody know if a master cylinder from a 93 dx will work on the si? should right?

i believe the Si master cylinders were always bigger than the regular models. (15/16" versus 13/16" i believe....) so no, you will want to go with the bigger Si model.

as for DOT4/3, they should be compatible with each other, so i wouldnt worry about that too much... if nothing else, the fluid will work as a test medium to find your other problems. once u get those straightened out, you can drop $10 and pump the whole system clean with some fresh DOT whatever you want.

actually if dot3 and dot4 are mixed it will create a jelly like substance and clog the lines from what i was told from a brake shop before so i would recommend doing a lil more research before you buy new parts

The Differnce Between Do3 - Dot 4 Is Boiling Point Of The Fluid.
Mixing Them Together Should Not Make A Difference,
The Proper Way To Bleed / Change Brake Fluid Is Pass Rear - Driver Rear - Pass Front - Driver Front,
Look Under Your Dash - Pull Back The Carpet, Is It Wet? Find Where The Brake Pedal Connects To The Rod That Goes Thru The Firewall, Is It Wet There? If So Your Master Cylinder Is Bad!!!!!
