Default sohc power steering question

i took the power steering off the car when i pulled the old y8 and put in the current z6.

yesterday was such a nice day, i was looking for shit to do to my car, so i decided to put the power steering back on it. So i put the y8 bracket on the z6 block(bolted up perfect), put the pump on, put the resevoir back in, and went to put the belt back on....and realized something.

the power steering pulley is about 1 inch too far towards the driverside wheelwell.

Is the z6 p/s bracket different than the y8? or is the y8 pump too big, or what?

thanks.

i think he might be on to something... my Y7 block (which was almost the same as the Y8 ) had the dipstick on the front drivers corner, right up the corner. (just left of the timing belt)

but i never had power steering or a Z6 block, so thats about all i can help you with.

hm...the y7 IS a y8, just with a different head basically.

so yea, im guessing its all about dipstick clearances.....so I'd need a z6 power steering bracket right?
