I have a civic ex. I hooked up a system today. Played fine for an hour straight. Then i turn it on later and everything shuts off. The amps, eq, headunit. I check my fuses and the radio/cigarette lighter was blown. I replaced that but right when i push it in it popped. I tried a 20 amp fuse instead of 15 and it did the same thing. Then i unhooked the wire under my hood that powers the amps. That should have illiminated it if it was a problem with the amps. Put a fuse in and it popped. Also when i am driving with lights on it makes the door ajar sound. Any suggestions. Could it be my hu?? i know its not the amps seeing as i diconnected them.

 

did u connect the dimmer?orange wire?

 

no i didnt. i dont ever use that

 

im guessin something is wrong with ur wirin..something touchin or groundin out..

it might not be back there..it could be something really small thats not easy to see..so make sure when u check all the wires..u check them closely..make sure the coatin around the wire isnt stripped and maybe grounding out..also just a lil info..what gauge wire are u usin for ur amps and such..and the fuse on that wire..?

 

id you twist the wirestogether or did you use a metra Plug ? or is it all hackd up ? ill gurantee you have a ground and 12V wire touching. or teh 12V wire is grounding or pinched.

 

i checked and the dimmer wire was connected. I then cut it and now it works fine. why would the dimmer wire cause fuses to pop

 

cause your hooking it up to the wrong wire and grounding it out. just cap it and don't use it
