a good high flow cat vs a test pipe will net only a few hp somthing like 5 (on a stock motor)...the test pipe will make it a little louder because it doesnt have any the honeycombs....the bigger cat will only help you IF the insides are bigger too not just the pipes.

reading in one of the import magazines about this issue. Total net gain on a honda from complete stock cat to straight pipe was only 5 hp. like ^^ said, with no insulation the pipe will be louder.

yeah, im curious about this also. I have a test pipe sitting in my garage however everyone wants to charge 100 take switch them out because of the law. I cant do it cause i can't seem to get the bolts broken loose. Is it worth the louder noise and the 100$ for 5 hp?

it will cost you about $100 to get a high flow cat put on there. so with the prices being equal you might as well go the legal route.
