B18 clutch help!!! some questions!
Ok guys u have a ef with a B18A1 engine witha S1 B16 tranny.... tranny is all sorts of fucked up..... sometimes i can get 1st, 2nd to work but sometimes the shifter gets super hard to move, 3rd works once in a million years just grinds. 4th is the same way. 5 th useally works but sometimes cant shift to it like the shifter is stuck??????? any thoughts on this??? (im getting a another tranny anyways)
But on to my main question... does a GSR cable tranny fit on this motor with this clutch???? some of my friends say yes and some say no.... what is the difference between the clutches????
Any help would be great!!!

i would say call bay city and just get a clutch for the new tranny and you will be set.

All B series Clutches and trannys are the same sorta, gears are different Casing is the same Input shaft is teh same Throw out bearing is the same. Clutch Pressure plate is different by lb's and the Holding power of the discs differ, but for the most part they are all the same. All b series interchanegs with all other b series. I used a ITR flywheel on a GSR crank with a GSR Clutch kit in a Built ITR/GSR/LS tranny... So yea it will work.
^^ incorrect.
All B-series are not the same.
i.e. 90-91 are a Different size shaft as he 92-00 B series shaft
So the answer to your question is... it depends what year tranny you have on there.. if it is the 90-91 tranny, you'll need a new clutch, if its a 92-93 tranny, you'll be fine. The Gsr tranny you're talking about is going to be 92 and up.

The Only difference is the 90-91 tranny, but again I said they differ slightly. Since he wasnt even talking about Cable VS Hydro or Gen vs Gen it wasnt needed. So ill fix my statement and say that the 90-91 Cable B series tranny is th eonly tranny that will not fit due to a larger spline and tooth count.
So again All the B Series in the year range you are talking about ARE EXACTLY THE SAME !! minus the differences i listed.

What year Engine and What year trannys are yuo mating together. the S1 came on a few engines like the LS and B16 depending on year. Just list what you have that you want to assymble together and we will say yes or no.. Simple

dont really know the year of the tranny or motor...... bought the car with the swap allready in it.... from google it says the S1 is a JDM B16A X-Si. dont know the year.... motor in my car is a B18A1.. also dont know the year! I know its not much help for you guys but... just want to know if its worth it to do the Gsr tranny in my hatch. cause the clutch for it is like 288.00 at advance auto partS! so it might just be worth it to buy another B16 tranny!
