HELP!! B16 Vtec ??????????
I have a b16 in my honda. I dont know whats up but my header had a crack in it. My check engine light came on a week ago and i noticed my air fuel ratio gauge was acting funny, going from rich to lean and so on. Also my oil pressure idles at 20 psi and when im not even on it it goes up quick to 80psi but wont go past it, it bounces back. Anyways i changed by header and the check engine light went out. I didnt change the o2 sensor. But since that light came on it doesnt seem like my vtec is working right, yeah i feel it and hear it and the motor runs strong. But the vtec used to fly through the rpms from 5000 on, now it doesnt really. I dont know if the silinoid can go bad or my timing slipped alittle, or maybe my fuel management has something to do with it. SOMEONE PLZ HELP. its a b16A. I was told i may have to get it tuned and the fuel regulater adjusted and it would run like it used to. Plz let ne know
now im hearing that it might be my oil pressure for the vtec. i was told the reason that my gauge was acting all fuked up and vtec not working because its not getting enough oil pressure to engage. is this true. what should i do??
If your oil pressure isn't high enough the vtec will not work right. Try changing your oil/filter first. That's going to be the easiest cheapest way to start out with. If that doesn't help it could be a lot of things. Check the plug on your oil pressure sensor. Maybe the pickup tube is clogged. The oilpan may be dented and pushed up against the oil pickup. There are a lot of other things possible but those are the easiest to find.
