brake lights on even if car is off

Default brake lights on even if car is off

neighbor just rang our bell.... my brake lights are still on.

car is off. i tried pushign the brake pedal constantly but it wont release......
what could be the cause of this. please help.
is there anyway i cant turn it off besides disconnecting the battery?

Im pretty sure its called a brake light switch and yours is broken. It goes up under the pedal and causes the brake lights to be on all the time, even when the car is off.

there is a little plastic tab that tends to break/fall out of the brake arm...see if you can find it on the floor mat and put it back on, if its totally broken get the new piece @ honda its like 2 bucks

not sure what it exactly looks like. can i take a picture of the brake pedal area and tell me which one it is? i just disconnected the battery right now.. cant really fix anything till tomorrow.

i saw broken pieces of blue rubber/plastic. i guess this is it... so this plastic is what "cushions" the metal part switch near the brake pedal?

You'll fix it with a penny and crazy glue. That's what the shops do when you take the car for that problem. That's happen a lot to Crx's.

so you just put a penny on that switch and glue it?

i guess that blue plastic/rubber goes inside the hole of the upper brake pedal, therefore the blue plastic touches the switch and presses on it? am i right?
