Default pistons?

I plan on doing a ls vtec and I was wondering if ls pistons would clear?or if I would need to change them to gsr pistons?

I know I need;vtec head, vtec selinoid, hondata s100,200,300 ecu programmed so I don't need a knock sensor,I plan on using the golden eagle conversion kit because of no drilling/milling my block.that's basically all I need right?

im pretty sure the ls pistons stay in the ls block
but i belive either one will work... the only difference would be the compression,
the gsr pistons have a higher compression than the ls pistons

also, i am not positive but the gsr pistons may be .25mm bigger than the stock ls pistons so if that was the case you would need ur block bored .25 over stock, making ur block fit 81.25mm rather than 81.00mm pistons... but like i said im not sure, i may be just getting them confused with type r pistons...

All b series pistons are the same bore, Minus the b20 witch is 84mm. You can order any of them from the factory, overboared.

Also to the thread starter. Yes LS pistons will work. Read the faq at the top of the forums if you want any information. Also you can find a Compression calculator at www.zealautowerk.com , Thanks.

You do not have to use Hondata...there are several other tuning solutions out there, PM MTBER he can help you out on that. Also youll need ARP rod bolts, i dont care what anyone says, the motor will be useless with out them. Also a vtec oil pump.

yeah i kinda figured they were all the same 81.00mm size, the only type r pistons i have ever used in a build were 81.25 so i was never really sure what size they came in a stock motor... but yeah like i said... the ls pistons stay in the ls block... unless u plan on doing more work to the bottom end.

Jake,

Could I just get the oil pump off a junkyard car or does it come with the golden eagle kit?

Tuner Toys Golden Eagle - Lightning VTEC Conversion Kit COMPLETE ---- look here

and yes if a junkyard has a vtec motor then you can get the pump the odds are really small of finding one at a junkyard...
it would be easier for you to find one already off and ready to go... here is a conversion kit just incase you didnt know where to get one... doesnt look like it comes with the oil pump
