Default brake problem

i just replaced all the pads and rotors in my 93 civic si. i have discs all the way around. after bleeding the rear and the front brakes. when i push the pedal down, it slowly goes to the floor. and if i'm slowing down in traffic, i have to slow down in 3 steps to slow down cus its like it pushes all the fluid out so i let the pedal back up to refill so i can depress it again. what do you think, the master cylinder, brake booster, or there's air in the line? it was doing this same exact thing before i even changed the brakes, just not as often. thanks

well if you have abs you need to bleed from the closest to the abs unit to the furthest away.... if you don't have abs you bleed from the furthest away from the brake master cylinder to the closest to it.

and if you did that, then it sounds like your master cylinder is bad.

but more likely you bled improperly....and sorry but why did you bleed the brakes when you changed them?

EDIT: Also, if you took apart your calipers, you may want to look and see if you are leaking from your crush washers, if you didn't get new ones.

because i replaced the pistons in the rear calipers cuz they were rusted up and getting stuck. i only have a small amt of bubble action around the master cylinder too. prolly just bled them wrong......

yeah, try to bleed them again, I can't imagine that your master cylinder would just go out. If you don't have abs then bleed from the rear passenger side forward ending with front driver side. Bleeding is no fun

does bleeding the rears have anything to do with pulling the ebrake? after i did them yesterday(without using the ebrake, i got in this morning and had basically no brake at all. then i got home and tried to bleed out the rears by my self(using the ebrake) and it helped some, but its still sucky. i'll redo them from passenger rear to driver rear then passenger front to driver front. i'll update you tomorrow.

I guess you have drum brakes? If you do then after you swap out the pads you need to let the car roll back a little bit and pull up the ebrake a bunch of times till it tightens up.... its been so long i don't even remember if brake lines run to the rear drums... i think they do though ?

if you have 4 wheel disk then the ebrake has nothing to do with bleeding them, lol. I assume you know how to bleed correctly? and i trust that the problem wasn't occuring prior to you changing out your brakes?
