Default Type r swap into a 93 del sol

i want to swap a b18c5 into my 93 del sol, but i am not sure about something....the car is already obd1, and i wanna keep it that way, and i was looking at the b18c5 motor and the 96-97 spec is 600 cheaper then the 98-00...now the question that i have is, what is the difference in the 2 motors? is one obd1 and the other obd2?idk...i have done research and cant find much of anything that i can use to distinguish the 2 motors....if anyone can please help me with info, it would be much appreciated..thx

i believe they are both the same obd, but as far as motor, i would say the fact that the 98-00 motors are newer and are an update of the older 96-97 model.
they probably built that motor and upgraded little things about it, or in another case the 96-97 is a way more common motor. so the less common one would be more expensive.

They are both obd2 motors.
One will have a better final drive in the tranny then the other (98+)

You will need to re-wire the distributor plugs to run the obd2 distributor on your car. Concerning your injectors & alternator, you can re-wire those also to run obd2 plugs or you can run obd1 bseries injectors/alt etc.

Concerning an ecu, get your ecu chipped for the new motor or buy a pre-chipped unit.

one of the most notable differences between the two are the cams. 98+ make a bit more power.

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.

intake cam has 3 degrees more duration on the 98+

96-97 gear box has a combination of itr/gsr gears and a viscous lsd .
