motor oil
recently just put 10w-40 penzoil non-synthetic in my dc2. usually put in 10w-30 but i figured it's so damn hot down here, this wouldn't break up as fast. was this a bad idea?

no...10w40 is thicker than 10w30
if it didnt leak with 10w30 it wont with 10w40
alos this depends on how old the motor is and how many miles it has on it
and wether the motor leaks or burns any oil(smoking)...
if any of these conditions occured with the 10w30 then u would need toi put a thicker oil in there... such as 10w40

+1 Jason
Thats exactly right, because see with the motor's age and/or high mileage it should have an oil with a thicker viscosity for mileage, temperature, and maintenance purposes.
