Neuspeed rear strut bar install (pics)
Hello, I just installed a neuspeed rear strut bar in my ek hatch yesterday and wanted to share some pics.
First I unbolted the mounts that bolt down to the top of the shock tower. Then I undid part of the rear plastic panels just enough so I could squeeze the mounts in and bolt them down. I pushed on the plastic panel against the mount and it made a little white mark in the plastic from the pressure. I took in account that the panel was not flush so I made my hole farther back to compensate for the change in the movement of the panel. I then drilled out a hole using a door kit my dad picked up at Home depot. The hole had to be opened up more so, I used a dremel to open it up more. Once I had both sides cut out I loosely attached the sturt bar back to both mounts. In order to make the bolt holes even so it can be attached firmly you need to loosen up the top mounts so it has some play in it, then the bolt holes line up perectly. Once the bolts are in place before tightening them down all the way, I made sure the top mounts were firmly secure. Then I slowly tightened each bolt going from the driver to passenger side to make sure they were all evenly tightened. Once the bar was in place I went to Home Depot and bought some weather stripping. I had to cut the stripping to fit the hole. Once the cut was made and fitment was good, I siliconed the weather stripping to the edge of the hole. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish to complete this project. Overall I notice a difference in cornering. I did not think it would make that big of an improvement. I also installed a front upper strut bar at the same time as well.
Here are a few pics enjoy:
After cutting the holes and bolting the bar in place.

The kit I used to drill out the holes.

After silicone has dried. The hole on the right is a little bigger because, I measured a little to far to the rear of the car. On the right side I tried to not put the mount on unlike the first side. So I tried to eye the other side which ended up being wrong.
