i tring to stay away from switching to odb1 really would like to do the odb2 to make it easier for me so a AEM system will work for odb2 is what your saying

Well AEM > OBD1 Tuning programs so that doesn't matter ..

Although an AEM EMS does run in the 1200 range . It's worth every penny IMO . I'm going to be purchasing an AEM for my car I know that much ..
