Default ls/vtec durability

Hey guys, Ive been searching and searching for info on the durability of ls/vtec's with no results. Im about to purchase an integra with one and durability means a lot to me. It appears from what the man selling the car has told me that he has done everything correct but I still need to know how long these things last.
thanks

Its actually more about the quality of the parts used to build it, engine management, and how it was maintained.

no it is mostly on how it is built, you can have the best parts available and if it isnt built right then it is going to take a shit.

ive seen em last 80k miles, and i have seen them last 8 miles. It is ALL on how it is built. the ONLY thing it really needs to be reliable is....

1. Vtec oil pump
2.arp rod bolts
3.the RIGHT timing belt
4. the RIGHT bearings and clearance's

He's buying a car already built so he probably has no clue how it was built. I think he would like to know what kind of parts are in it. Did you read his question first?
It's more than throwing those parts together and calling it "reliable".

you just contridiceted your self

yes i read it, and like i said it depends on if it was built correctly not nessesarly the Quality of the parts. AS LONG AS IT HAS ARP'S, VTEC OIL PUMP AND THE CORRECT TIMING BELT AND THE RIGHT BEARINGS AND CLEARANCE's. And the clearance's and bearings depend on the if the builder did his job right. For instance, some people just think buying STD bearings get the job done, and that isnt the case.

it can have stock rods, ls pistons, and a bone stock head, and still last 100xxx miles.

Basically if you have no documentation like pictures, reciepts,or know who put it together beware you may have issues with the engine.

ya thats what I was thinking.
So here maybe comes my saving grace
here
this is the car I have been looking at, looks to be that he has the right parts. I have yet to ask him the detailed questions such as, did ya get the cylinder walls honed, if he did anything with the clearance issues, etc etc. But now Im wondering if anybody here knows him, I kinda remember his name from when I use to be on TR a lot (couple years ago) and figured maybe he had a good reputation of good cars or bad cars. Anybody actually know what Im getting into with this?
