92 prelude choking
hey whats up i have a 1992 prelude s with a f22 motor. just recently my car has been acting up. heres the story, sometimes when i get in my car and start the engine, the engine will start up then sometimes choke up and die, and if i try to start the engine again right after it chokes up it usually will not start and the engine will just simply crank and crank. then on the inside of my prelude on my speedometer where it shows which gear i'm on is blinking on the 4th gear spot( yes it is a automatic). i have gotten the car to start sometimes while the light is blinking in the 4th gear spot but the car seems like it does not want to go but it will.
If i wait like 5 minutes and try starting the engine again sometimes it will start but sometimes it won't so then if it doesn't i just sit and wait and try again in a few minutes. but also sometimes if i just keep trying to start the engine after it choked sometimes it will. thanks for reading and please help..oh yeah by the way my car sometimes stalls while i am driving usually only in the morning..

that 4th gear blinking light probably indicates a fault code in your ecu (the transmission part). Your CEL on too? See if you can pull any obd codes and go from there...

did the transmission have any engagment problems through the gears? Did you check your at level or condtion of your fluild. What is your check engine light code and A/T code? The A/T light will blink just like a engine light. You read them the same. 1 long is equal to one 1 short is equal to the first digit. Exsample -_-__---- would be code 12. another would be ------_------- code one. A/T would read the same.
Your SCS connector is located under the driverside by your srs unit by the center console on the driverside. By the kick panel on the right side. Its a 2p connector. Jump those wires with the ingntion on. Not running. Read the codes and tell us what they are. There is a start. Do all this stuff first. Then you could check for any open wires in the engine harness. Anything out of place or any broken connectors, mainly like on a shift solnoid on the transmission case.

i got 5 bucks that its the main relay, take it out, and retouch up on the solder points. put the relay back in and fire it up.

Yo dude, I got the exact same problem ! I have been looking fir answers, and cant find any. I had the tranny replaced with a low mileage tranny hoping to fix the problem. itd didnt. to a degree it did, like it starts everytime now, but I have to flick the key twice, then the light wont blink. if i just flick it on like normal the light blinks, and we are back to square one. so what could it be?
