B18B w/ B16 tranny
Im going to be getting a b18b long block shortly and I am wondering what a b16 tranny would feel like with this motor. My brother has a ls swap in a ef (same thing im putting it in) so I know what a ls tranny feels like. I would appreciate anyone who knows of this particular setup to post comments about it or, maybe another tranny setup thats got a little bit quicker gearing. Thanks TR

Its a good difference, just for an example. I did some work on a crx with an LS. Swapped a B16 (S1) tranny in and went for a ride. It spun through 1st, 2nd, and somewhat through 3rd(despite the shitty tires) Total difference, and third gear on those is awesome. I HIGHLY reccommend that you do it. This is a great combo.

+1 the LS tranny is so boring, with the b16 you will notice a pretty big difference in acceleration especially. Not many other trannies have shorter gearing (except I think the ITR) but thats about it I think. I definately advise you to get the B16 if you have the money. The only con of it is I heard the top end isnt good for highway? Maybe someone can clear that one up for me?

a B18B with an S1 tranny is going to only go about 120-125mph ...
The car hauls ass with the gears so short but it sucks for driving around . 70mph is like 5k on the interstate

My buddy has an S1 and he revs his LS out to like 7800 sometimes never goes over 130 with 215/60/14 BFG's on HX's in his CRX

I love it in the city, sucks ballz on the highway.
I topped it out at 126 mph (195/50/15's) but it sure got there quick!
Oh and on spray, I have to shift to 5th in the 1/4 mile which also sucks ballz.
