Check plugs to see if you're getting spark.

Fuel pump priming?

if the starter is not engaging the flywheel, the starter solenoid is going bad. either replace the entire starter or remove and replace the solenoid.

If the soleniod was bad the starter wouldnt engage at all, it would probly just click. It sounds like the bendix in the starter isnt engaging. Time to replace the stater

the bendix is what makes the starter spin, yes the solenoid supplies power, but it also injects the shaft to engage the flywheel. his complaint was that the starter spins but doesnt engage. if it spins the bendix is doing its job.

Sounds like a starter problem more than an engine problem.
What part of the starter? ..... depends on whether the starter is engaging,
but not spinning the flywheel. Or not engaging at all.

Also check the battery connections. Super clean/grease the terminals
on both cables and also on the battery itself. Crud can affect
the starter not having enough electricity to crank the engine.-Bob
