Q about a head/block combo and cams
Well, a buddy of mine has a B16A (JBM OBD-0) head mated to a B18C1 (GSR) block. Is this a pretty stout combo? Also GSR cams were installed in place of the B16A cams, is that a benefit?
I'm excited, I get to drop it in an EF hatch tomorrow

The b16 head holds really nicely, because my friend has a B20/Vtec where his B16a2 head is over his B20 (CRV) shortblock and a GSR tranny and GSR Cams with ITR stock pistons and rings within it and he is an all motor beast within his 00 SI Coupe, so i believe that the head is able to hold the GSR bottom end and the cams do present better Valve duration, meaning that the Valves opening and closing will be a big different in time compared to the b16a1 cam duration width. That is a good setup, but the only thing i can tell you might be a problem is that the bottom end is gonna be beastly retarded in the since that the B16 will have to control itself and sometimes the Head might either blow a hole within it, or slightly crack, or blow head gaskets like crazy since the head is a First generation B16 head working with sophisticated internals "GSR Cam Lobes", Just make sure it's tuned right which is a key factor aswell, or else it's gonna run like shit, compared to what it can do. Good Luck
