Default AC Problem

I recently picked up a 97 Prelude SH and I'm having an issue with the AC. It blows cold as hell when you're stopped, or the RPM's are anywhere below 2000. As the RPM's get higher, the air gets warmer. The fan doesn't slow down any, the air still comes out at the same speed, it's just warm. I don't think any of the major AC components are messed up. Could a belt be slipping? Or is it an sensor?

Turn down the radio and see if the compressor is doing an excessive clicking on and off sound. Maybe the condensor is going bad, and not properly keeping the ambient temps down. I'd take it to an A/C shop like AAMCO, they usually offer free diagnosis during the summer months. Call them and see if they will offer it to you. It wouldn't hurt them to offer that deal.

some cars are equipped with an RPM cutoff switch for the AC compresssors. i dont know if Honda ever used this, but i know most fords have it, so when you accelerate heavily, like over 4k, it cuts the compressor off so u have less parasitic loss. like i said, i dont know if hondas have it, but it sounds like that would be yours cutting off early.

or it could be a loose belt.

or the AC compressor clutch could be slipping.

You need it checked with gauges ,it may have air in the system.
