quick question

Default quick question

hey, i got an insane deal on a 91 crx SI and im going to buy it tomorrow, i was wondering what type of motor does it have in it, and how many pounds of boost could it handle STOCK SAFELY with out blowing up???

it has a d15 sohc in it, i would say SAFELY you can run up to 10 psi with no worries, you may be able to handle more, but i wouldnt, 10-15 is what most run in a stock motor, but it all depends on how wore out the motor is.

cool thanks, yeah i was thinking of setting it up at the highest 7-8 so i guess im safe with that... so yeah that helped alot thanks again

no problem, 7-8psi would be quite a performance gain, i would say set anywhere from
7-10psi without any issues... im glad i could help

You my good sir are wrong, 1988-1991 CRX Si's came with a 1.6 liter SOHC, D16A6, these blocks are the strongest D-series block built(stock form). But my good sir you are right about the boost level wanting to run 10 PSI. If the motor doesnt have high miles and doesnt smoke, runs right, etc... then 10 psi would be good as long as you have a good intercooler to keep temperatures down and a good tuner. I personally recomend John Vega (Mtber on the forums), But then again who doesn't Safe up enough money for him to Dyno tune it for maximum security. Also, a rebuild consisting of Piston rings, rob bearings, and main bearings wouldn't hurt either.

so the non-si is the d15, and the si would be the d16... i wasnt 100% positive but good info
