Default Port & Polish question

How much would it be to have my SOHC D15b non-vtec cylinder head port & polished only? Also, what does port & polishing include being down?

not worth the money on that head. About $900 for a good port job.

porting and polishing is the process of smoothing out the ports and deburring any obstructions for the airflow into and out of the combustion chambers. most people who run their engines as a daily driver recommend not polishing the intrake ports too much, as somewhat of a rough surface is necessary for fuel atomization, and helps keep fuel ecomony decent. the exhaust ports, however, are usually extensively smoothed, and then polished.

in both the intake and exhaust ports, a very mild grinding wheel is used to remove imperfections (extra metal, sharp edges, etc) in the ports, mostly at the openings for the manifolds, right before the valve seats, and around the bottoms of the valve guides.

hope that helps, and as KJ said, dont waste ur money on that head. even a mild street polishing jobs a competant DIYer could do...
