Question ???window help???

Hey everyone,

my wife has a '00 civic vp, stock dd. the damn drivers side window up front broke again. the first time it broke it was under warranty about 3 yrs. ago. it seemed very hard to wind up the window(manual) before it broke both times. Well i took it apart the other day and there is a piece that connects to the crank handle on the other side of the door. It's a black "gear box" and has two cables coming out of the top. Well this is what has broken. there are two flat gears (cheapo plastic) that face each other. the teeth on both gears are chewed up and not catching each other. my question is what the hell is this piece called and how much $$ to replace? i can't seem to find anything other than a window regulator on the net, and that's not it. and how can i keep this from happening again. it's such a pain in the ass sticking my hand back there. any help appreciated! >>>adam

go to honda and look up part from micro fish. lube window tract with silicone spray every month or two and you wont have this problem.

the part you need should be included with the regulator. go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/home.htm and look up the window parts. The diagrams are very good, you should be able to see what you need. Good luck.

yeah it is included w/the reg. but i don't want to have to replace the whole thing if i don't have to. it's $58 and also it would be alot easier to replace the piece i need rather the entire assy. thanks for your help, i'm gonna head over to the honda dealer!
