what did you do to your exhaust... anything at all? back fire usually comes from gas that was left over and burned up late. you need to look into getting a fuel pressure regulator like they said and getting your car tuned a bit. back fire occurs often, but most people have very restrictive cat's which dont allow you to hear the back fire. back fire isnt bad but means you are not placing the right amount of gas.

hmmm, I backfire like a mother under hard decel or at partial throttle while decelerating. I can almost do it on command.

Oh, and I SHOOT FIREBALLS!

I always had this question in my head too, I firgured it wasnt nothing real harmful but maybe a tune issue.

Could be lean backfires or rich backfires. Usually you can tell by the sound. Bad spark, vaccum leaks, sensor issues (are you throwing any engine codes) allo possible causes.
Lean backfiring is too much air in the fuel mix and rich is just the opposite.

a lean backfire would be called detonation. which is bad for any car. if you car is detonating, i suggest not to drive it hard.

what kinda of upgrades have you done to the car/motor?

THATS ME! For some reason my car wont ignite on cylinder 1. Sometimes it will sometimes it wont. After I take it to redline once, it will idle on 3 cylinders for a while. Still in process of figuring out whats wrong.

if it happens on the same cylinder everytime then its not your rotor... did you check your compression? you may wanna try to do that and see what you come up with
