Default 1991 NSX questions

1991 NSX
looking at buying one just wondering if there is any major problems with them? other then the 100,000 miles it has on it, what else should i be on the look out for as trouble areas? Should the motor be compression tested? how long will a well kept honda motor last(milage wise)?

i'm not turning it into a race car to the 250-270hp it makes is going to be fine for now...i have plenty of other fast toys at my disposal.

also i'm looking at comptech for my eventual basic performance needs (intake, headder, exhaust, S/C....what ever else i have room for in the budget)
is their quality excellent? what other aftermarket companies make high quality acura/honda parts?

i'm a corvette guy so the NSX is a new realm of the car world for me. but i'm used to fast stuff so i figure for the price i'm gettin it for (not going to disclose it, cause i dont want one of you rat bastards buying it before me) if i have to put a little in it i will. eventually i was looking at a S/C for it but i keep remembering the NSX that blew up on the dyno. dont want that to be me.

any info will be greatly appreciated

Best site to answer this question is www.nsxprime.com.

Knowlegable people. Nice cars there to for sale. Iam looking at getting one to.

Just make sure that the snap ring is either fixed or out of range. (Transmission) Just read up on that site it has alot of your questions answered already.

Check to see if the timing belt has been changed. Big pain in the ass to do or very expensive to pay someone to do it. The 91's are know to have a/c problems. Try to get a repair log from the previous owner to see if those issues have been addressed.

Biggest issue in 91 was the tranny. They had problems with the snap ring. Most have been fixex but go on NSX prime and see if the one you are interested in is in"Snap ring range" other then that you should be fine. Remember you are looking at a car that is almost 16 years old so it will have issues.

^^^ Exactly what i was going to say... You never know who owned the car b4 them or if its a One Owner deal. But I believe if you can afford an NSX, I would believe you would take care of it. Something a quick CarFax report would show. Just make sure the Timing Belt has been changed (if not take care of that), drive the car for 10-15 min in the hot sun, make sure it does not overheat. after get under the car make sure theres no leaks/smoke.
the NSX is still a Acura/HONDA car, itll last you a lifetime with the right care, If there's ppl here with boosted honda's (some with engines over 200k+ miles) and there cars are still runnin like a beast's.. I dont think the NSX would give you any major issues.

i checked out the nsx prime forum they have NSX's with 200+miles on them and they run just fine....i wasn't questioning reliability at all....i was just seeing what besides obvious stuff needed extra care...i'm a little nervous about the snap ring thing but the fix for it is to put comptech short gears in it with GM syncrofluid, also they mentioned adjusting the valves.....does any one locally do top notch work on NSX's? cause when i get the car it will be coming for a phyiscal.....lol turn and cough.
