Default Getting poor gas milage / performance.

Well, after a week after I replaced my spark plugs / wires (last month is) I got great gas milage (442 to a 10 gal tank in my EK) Ever since then, my performance gas milage has gone down hill. I get a oil change regularly, change my air filter... so I figured I might as well check my plugs. Well, I check them and all of them look simular to the below picture. It has some kind of 'soot' on it and I've never seen that on a plug before. Is that common / normal?

Also, what are some other things that I myself can check to see what may be causing the performance problem.

I'm out in brandon now, and would like to replace the plugs with some NGKs, any suggestions on where to go?

Thanks!

Any idea what would cause this 'soot' to build up in less than 2 months on a plug?

Thats what I suspected too... figured that might be causing the excessive fuel usage. Only went 170 miles and I'm down to a half a tank. Might get another 100-125 if I take it ez.

Problem is, I didn't do anything to make it run more 'rich' Anything I can do to check or most likely cause?

Thanks!

Could it possibly be an O2 sensor?

is your check engine light on? or you may need to get a hotter firing spark plug, show the plugs to someone at the auto parts store and as them if you should get hotter plugs or not, and also are you gapping them to the correct gap size
