ok i have a question..all i hear about now days is k series.I have rode in a newer 04 si hatch with a k20 type r w/ lsd,6 spd etc.It impressed the hell out of me..No power lose and pulled like a bitch to 9k rpms.Now my question,Is it realy worth the money and time/wiring that it takes to get these into rexes. I only ask cause there is a white crx running around clearwater with no hood that fucking sounds mean as hell and has the k series in it. I am praying i see him while i am out just so i can see the differance between a built ls/vtec and a k series.I hear that its a bitch and a ton of cash to get these wired up in rexes right.Anyone have any link's etc. of k series into crx info ?

 

wiring is not bad at all if you have Neal Sutton do your harness for you. He does it for a great price and is basicly plug and play or you can drop off your car to him and he will do it all. I can vouch for his K harness as im running one.

 

what are they doing for the ecu in them..anyone ever figure out what speedo and tac will work.i know there was alot of little issues when they first came around..does your hood close?

 

Funny how I go out to find fun runs and never find a single race. I might be heading to sunshine with it this Wednesday if I can get my hood done by then.

To have the speedo work for a cable driven vss you can use a single cam vss, you just have to redrill the mounting hole on the little peice of metal that holds it down. I'm running a rywire harness, it's a jumper type harness and no wiring is needed if your going to run kpro/aem. If you want to run the immobalizer you have to wire in 4 wires. With all the plugs supplied he charged me 300 shipped. If you use hassport mounts the Crx hood does not close, a cowled skeleton-less cf hood will fit, as will the jdm hoods.

Again I sugest going to a k series specific board to read up if your serious about doing it yourself. If not pay someone, theres plenty of shops making a killing on the easiest swap i've done to date.

is the k pro set up still around a grand?do you need to convert to obd1 or something to get the ecu to work?i am just trying to get an idea of what has came out now days.I knew it would be no time before they got it easy to bolt them in and wire them with out selling your right arm..I am sitting on a built ls/vtec as well as a new 0 miles ITR.When i finally run a k series then i will figure out if i realy want to go that route.I have thousands of dollars b-series.it would suck to start over..

 

If you have a built ls/vtec, go ahead and run that then. Why would you not want a hood on your car?? or a big ass cowl induction hood, its not a chevy. Make the car look stock, thats what I like. I would do a k20 rex if it were going to be a drag car, but if you put an ls/vtec making over 200whp in a crx, that thing will run 12s all day long. Your going to have traction problems in with both motors. I would just keep your mind focused on that ls/vtec. Play with that for awhile, and then, if you want more, then go that route. Dont waste all the time and money and start over. Remember the B motor is what made Honda known. Yea Ks are tight, 6 speed, 2L, cant go wrong. But in a Crx, strictly drag. Thats my 2 cents. +1, little bit of nitrous on that ls/vtec, some lensos with 22" slicks and a quaiffe and I don't see why it wouldn't go 11's..

 

see thats what i thought..i have a zex 75 shoot on it to.BUT this is a drag car so i dont care what it looks like..look in my gallery.I have nothing in the car that does not need to be there.that goes for wireing as well..its just a shell..this car is just for fun and track days.i will not be on the street much.i will get some new pics up latter but i have some older pics in the gallery.

 

i know rex's have the worst traction problems so i have spared no cost on getting my suspension and tires done.went with koni yellows w/ nuespeed race springs and full camber adj. energy suspension complete hyperflux kit,brand new g-force drag radials and i have traction bars so i hope it does pretty good when it comes to traction.
