b18 turbo questions
My friend from Philly asked me this question and i had no clue what to say. I figured ide put it on TR and see what everyone says. He is building a b18b1. It has stock internals and he wants to run turbo and nos. Probably like a 50 or 75 shot nothing huge. He wanted to know, will this work or is he just playing russian rulette with his motor waiting for it to blow? Is there anything he could do to allow this setup? I.E. do some bottom end work or somthing like that? Also how much boost can he run, or more so how much would be safe with that setup. I know anything is possible if you pockets are deep enough, but his arent, so he cant really afford to do a total rebuild on the motor and all that jazz. Is there anyway for this to work without spending thousands building the motor?

How many miles are on the motor? And what is the condition of it? That will affect what to expect out of it. If it a high mileage motor then your taking a chance on it. If it is a well maintained motor then you can probably run stock internals for a while, depending on how much boost you run. Someone else on here will explain more in detail im sure, as i am new to this whole scene.

maybe 8psi and a 50 shot. Even with a good tuning he is going to be limited by the stock ringlands and cylinder pressure.
Especially if he does not even have ARP bolts or block guard.

Good luck. That 50 or 75 shot with boost will turn into a 80 or 130 shot.
