Default 90 Acura Integra - Hard to start & overheating problem

Recently got a beater for basically nothing. Car runs fine.....strong too
But I notice 2 problems after driving it for 2 days.

1) Hard to start(at times) - cranks but won't fire. Already put in new NGK plugs. After 10-15 cranks, car finally turn over. See 2-3 seconds of smoke coming out of exhaust...is that normally cuz I step on the gas pedal too much?

2) I put in about 1 gallon of water in the radiator when I first got it, after 2 days, its gone. I didn't notice any leakage underneath. So this morning I decided to put in coolant and drove it for 10 minutes at 70mph, then the engine light came on. So its time to get some help before I ruin the engine.

Engine oil is clean.

Any suggestions?

will the car push start after not being able to start it?(could help chose the next direction to look ign. or fuel related)if it does then fuel is there,.if not then your most likely looking at a fuel problem.CEL light on?
as for the smoke what color is it? does it do it every time after sitting awhile?
