I have just purchased a 00 si, now i have a problem with the enginge bogging out in low rpm's. When i take off in first, I am getting some hesitation then it takes off, i also get an occasional backfire when letting off the gas then hitting it again. What can I do to fix this or where can i take it to get it checked. My usual mechanic has moved to PA, so if you can suggest some areas to check or a knowledgeable person to take it to let me know.

p.s my fuel pressure is 36.

Also changed plugs and wires.

 

You can check the following:

1. Replace your fuel filter.
2. Make sure the fuel pump working and delivering enough fuel.
3. Check the engine timing
4. Check injectors
5. Examine throttle body for problems.
