where did you hear that from? a b18 non v-tec having more potential than a b18 v-tec, i do not think so. as always what are your goal and how much can you spend. from a cost stand point get a b-16, for more power get a gsr (b-18c) or if you got the cash get the type R (b-18c5) But overall for a everyday not rich person who has to save for what he wants the b-16 is your best bang for your buck and tons of aftermarket support for it.

O M F G, Ignore both of those posts please. And to clear something up...
GS-R: USDM B18C1
JDM B18C
Type-R: USDM B18C5
JDM B18C

And the fact of putting a B16 in a teg? I will not even touch that one.
And for the guy who said to go K-Series; yes it would be awesome and yes it would be fast but it's expensive as fuck. And why dose it have to be "JDM" or the "Type-R"? You can get a type-s to do the same thing for half the cost.

NOW!! back to the topic in hand. You can realy go any way. I just depends on what you want. Boosted LS is cool and so it an ITR motor with mods. It can realy swing both ways. Also have you thought of LS VTEC? Sounds like you should do some more re-search.

why must he ignore it he asked for the best starting point so i figured he was talking mostly about cost the most he can get for his dollar. he never said anything about later things to do as boosting it or really hook it up for n\a so gave him what he wanted the best starting point with cost in mind. also thanks for the corrections on the engine codes .

the stock sleeves on a b20 are no thinner than any other the concern with people is that they are made from a different material wich makes them weeker. but i have also heard this is not true. im building a b20 now ill let you know how it holds up.

You got to it beofre me . B20 bottom end is faily weak, if you plan on boosting your going to have to do a deacent amount to the bottom end the sleeves and rods are th3 suck.
