Default H.I.D. Lights in EG

those of you that have H.I.D's in you EG hatch...

Did you hook them directly to your car wiring?

Did you use a relay instead of hooking them up to your factory wiring?

Reason is, I have heard you can hook them up to your factory wiring but when I do It the lights come on and then pop the fuse.

Any help is appreciatedl

Yes Gotti, The stock wiring will work fine with HIDs.
Only thing you need to do is change over the stock fuses from 10amp to 20amp.

Derka, 30amp is way to much and can burn up your Ballasts.

You can burn the shit up out of your wiring depending if you do not have the proper relay/ballast. Also depending on what voltage H.I.D bulb you are using.

you also need to see if your headlight switch is hooked inline with the lights or if the switch feeds a relay. If the headlight switch feeds a relay then you shouldn't have a problem, if the switch is inline with the lights you could burn out the switch. To be safe I'd use a relay and run a slightly larger gauge wire from your battery or fuse block to the lights for power. since the larger gauge is kept entirely under the hood it's an easy install, and the factory wiring is already run through the firewall so that's not a problem either.

Idk, mine were a complete kit, not the retrofit. so it might be little different than a oem hid retrofit.

plus they have been on 30 amps for 6months
