So many people have different answers for this question, I want to know when is it legal to have nirtous in your car and when is it illegal? I have heard that if it is not filled its legal, also if if the valve is not open its also legal, if it is not hooked up to the intake it is legal. What is the real legality of ths question? Any input would help, thanks Dan

Florida technically has no law on nitrous IN a car(unless it changed in the last year) It is a OFF-ROAD product and unless you actually use it, I believe you can have it in your car but it needs to be turned off.. other states are diffrent, but I remember back about a year ago a MOD on Club Si purged by a FHP and he did nothing about it. I guess it all comes down to the officer, If he has it out for cars that appers to be fast/or is having a bad day, I am sure you will get hasseld about having it, but as long as it is OFF you should be fine.....

the only thing illegal about it is the federal emision laws when runnin it, but that's no diff than taking your cat off or any other mods that change emisions!
nobody enforces those laws unless they just wanna be a dick!
not only that but they're fed laws, not local or state!

 

From what i have hurd as long as the line is not hooked to the bottle it is legal to be in your car.

 

My neighbor is a HC sherrif, he said as long as the line is not hooked up to the bottle. It can be full, hooked up to your intake and all that, just don't have the line on the bottle. However if the bottle is in yor trunk, you need to give the cop permission to search your vehicle, or he has to have "reasonable cause" (open beer cans, liqour on your breath, weapons..........) to search your trunk.
