Default anyone run a act disk w/exceedy p.p?

did you run into any problems? i got this on my ls with stock flywheel and the clutch grabs hard but it only takes like 1.5 inches of pressing the pedal down to engage. this makes street driving really hard. and i have tried replacing everything and inspecting everything, i cant find any problems. i am thinking that it has somthing to do with the throwout bearing not being compatible, but i dont know.

any ideas?

thanx

generally a clutch and pressure plate are a matched pair, and if you plan on doing the work in one day without any problems, it should be kept that way.

You can do that with no problem. ACT PP are modified factory excedy and the clutch disks are the same.

I researched this when I did my engine swap. I went to Clutch City in Largo(where i purchased my ACT's i've had and my Excedy i have now) The guy there showed me the couple of thingsthat were the same, you can actually visually see it. The only difference is the PP. ACT's tend to be stronger. The throw-out bearing is the same also...yoiuo might havenot ogottent the arms onto the throwout bearing from the slave cylinder arm thus pushing it our further...You really couldn't be sure till you take it all apart and visually check it.
I know my clutch now has very little wngage and dis-engage points...all partr of that clutch type...

LMK if you need any more help...would be glad to lend a hand..
So to answer your question yes...they should have the same clearances, all clutches I would think would be the same thickness.

i have removed the tranny 3 times trying to fix this problem. at first it would not go in gear at all. found out that the oem throw out bearing i was using was not compatible with the act disk, it was hitting the middle piece and not allowing it to engage. after i swapped the beaing out for one that worx, i get this problem. actually the guy at clutch city helped me figure out the bearing issue. (he had never seen anything like it before) and i have had the tranny off twice trying to fix the engagment point, but everything looks fine. its got me stumped. and i have checked the throwout bearing and the fork both times. i dont think that is the issue because the clutch pedal feels very easy and does nothing after the first inch or so. i would think that if that were the case it would engage right away and then be really hard to push it any further. im lost.

If desperate, call act and ask if their stuff will be compatable with.......etc.
Make the same call to exceedy, and see what each company says is compatable with their particular product. Ask what they recommend
to solve the problem.-Bob
