Default CAI vs Short Ram Intake?

CAI vs Short Ram Intake?

I see a lot of cars have Short Ram intake vs CAI (cold air intake)

Yes, I'm new to the tuner scene, but I want to learn, so I'm gonna ask questions.

Since in FL, I'm concerned about the weather with CAI, but I know that with Short RAM, you're sucking in hotter air than stock at times.

Any recommendations for me? Can someone list the pro's and con's?

Also, I've seen a TON of low priced CAI and SRI on ebay. Can anyone tell me the disadvantages of those compared to say Injen or AEM?

Thanks in advance!

a SRI is remcommended for FL. mainly because of all the rain we get and florida tends to well, you know. flood.
the cai is good for winter time etc, but like i said if your car is lowered and you hit a deep puddle, your fucked.

there really is no difference in brands such as injen, aem etc. my ihmo a pipe is a pipe.

Thanks for the info Defkt. Actually, trying to get my car off the ground (will this sunday) Bought it off somone that lowered it nearly 4"... way too much for me.

Anyways, would you say @ stock height (or a 1" drop) that CAI might work in FL?

Your opinion is appriciated, but you don't back it up. Please, I need facts to go along with each.

I have only used short ram. For the extra .5- 2 horsepower you would get with a cold air, its not worth the risk of hydolocking an engine.

-Stock ITR Air Box w/ K&N Filter is the best IMO. Looks Good,No chance of getting water logged, and holds a mass of air just like the J's Racing BIG Tube CAI.

-Or, Ice Cold Air intake (tube from Throttle Body to front lower bumper) with a Bypass Valve.

-Or, CAI with a Custom heat shield and secondary 90 degree pipe running from inner front bumper to bottom of CAI filter.
No Chance of Sucking up water while still pulling in air from outside the car.

Either Intake you choose, Your only looking at a couple HP/TQ. that you'll probably never feel.

I think your best bet is to run a short ram and spare yourself the headaches of puddle dodging.
A couple HP isn't worth having that chance of Hydrolocking the motor and paying $2K for a new swap....

G/L with your decision.
