The only reason I say b16 is because you can go ls-vtec later. You would have the head and the tranny already. Now if you don't want a hybrid then I would agree the b18 would be better. I have seen many stock ls with 300whp with a tune and fuel management.

damn all that non vtec mess! the vtec head is so far superior in a stock form, that ported B18 heads have trouble touching it.

i have a B16turbo and i love it, turbos like to rev, and so do B16s! boost makes up for the lack of torque

Common, how can you say something like that?? We can sit here and go back and fourth about which motor is better, but the real question you need to be asking yourself is, What am I going to want out of this setup. Is it going to be a Drag car? Turbo? NA? Nitrous? are you going SCCA? Each motor will have its place in each area, My B16 sleeved to a 1.8 loves to rev, and like catch said, so do turbos, so for a street car were TQ and revs are best kept around equal that motor would shine. now a drag motor on the other hand will need lots of TQ, thats what gets you down the track faster. Again a 1.8 would be a better choice for all out drag racing, but for something like a SCCA car, A high reving motor with modderate TQ would be great for track driving. All in all, diffrent motors will be better/worse in certian areas, you need to decide what area you want to play in and then choose the setup that is right for you. So B4 anyone goes bashing this motor and that motor, think about the BIG picture, instead of picking out the 1 small thing a motor is missing or has a lack of.. be smater than the average bear, We here at TR taught you better than that!!
