Default N00b Question...

Good Afternoon....

I hope this thread doesnt get flamed, but here goes.....

Id like to know the differences between an SI and an EX (1999)
Ive done a few straggled searches however there results varied...

Interiror aesthetic differences I can notice so far, like seats.....but what else?

And the head looks different as well....is the Block the same?...Please and thanks for your responses!

thanks
Mike.

yep! the motor is a hella big difference! DOHC motor

exterior: the front grill is mesh on a si rather than the standard honda grill, the side skirts are painted to match the car on an si, there is a front lip on an si, and there is a crome exhaust tip on the stock si muffler.

interior: the seats are different, the gauge cluster, clock, and all controls light up amber (I think) and I'm sure there are a few things I'm missing interior wise... I dunno? I hope this helps you out a little!

Hook a cracka up w/ some rep points!!! cya...

I better get some rep points for this...

comparison of 99/00 ex to 99/00 si

*The si has a stock front lip the ex does not

*The si does not have stock oem fogs (but they do look really good)

*The si has a black mesh grill the ex has a grill that looks more like this ==H==

*The motor(biggest difference) the head and block are both very different.
EX=D16y8 single overhead cam (with vtec) rated from honda at 127 hp.redline at 6800
SI=B16 dual overhead cam (with vtec) rated from honda at 160 hp.redline at 7400

*The sideskirts come painted body color on si, ex skirts come flat black

*The si comes with alloy wheels, the ex comes with hubbies!

*The si has an si amber lit cluster, ex lights are a greenish color

*The si only comes in 5 speed manual, ex available in automatic as well

*The si has a slightly different suspension from the ex

*The si has rear disc brakes, the ex has brake drums in back.

*The si headrests have a box hole in them, the ex ones are flat across.

*The si for those years had an exclusive color (not in ex,lx,dx,hx) electron blue pearl

*Badges different of course

*The actual design on the seats is different on the si

[B]There are probably other things but thats all I can think of right now. I know these becuase I got an auto ex and I could have gotten a si. I think about all those differences every day.

thanks....So I should look for a b16 swap as opposed to an "si motor"?
