You can try to dial out any overlap by going like +1 on the intake and -1 on the exaust or even just +1 intake, or -1 on the exaust. just remember that for every deg you advance your intake cam you will be changing your Ignition timing. If your motor(head or block) was ever milled/decked than there is a good chance that you have some overlap in your cams/valves. The only true way again to set up gears is on a dyno, but if you dont have a means to a dyno I would try what I posted. Just remember that when moving your intake cam + or - after you are done check your timing with a timing light because it will be diffrent due to the fact that the intake cam runs the distributar.. best of luck and hop this helps

What fuel management are you running ?
This maybe a factor as to why it feels like its "not all there".
Was the vehicle ever tuned ?

At of all the people on this post to ask this... I'd figure mtber would be the one to say something lol.. there is a FMU and stock injectors, I know, I know, I need to get it tuned. I emailed you a while back about throwing a tune on it.. if you tune it, would you do the cam gears? Thanks -Ben

I would only adjust the cam timing on the dyno.
Btw, AEM 3 bolt cam gears are known to slip.
