Default vtec controller/vafc???

i heard that the vtec controller was just a little box that hooks up the vtec and i thought the vafc was the same thing until i went online and saw the Apexi VAFC II, and i was just wondering are these the same things that i would need to put a vtec head on?

you do not need any of these piggy back devices to install a vtec head, a chipped ECU with the right mappings for your head will do much better then a stock non-vtec ECU. however if you would like to further tune the motor after installing both the ECU and head, a piggyback such as a VAFC may do some good. We have a user here with a LS/VTEC putting out just over 200whp that is "tuned" solely on a VAFC. Seems to work well for him. His username is "BigBodySmith"

so you just wire the noid up to the ecu?
so u dont need either one a vafc or vtec controller for the vtec to actually work?

is there a difference in a stock like (SI) vtec controller and a vafc?

You do no need a piggyback for what you are trying to do. And depending on what your crx is you may not even need to wire it for vtec cause it may come pre-wired.
