polished?...take some sanding from low to high grades...and wammo
-take off the valve cover, go buy some Air Craft Stripper, to strip off as much paint as you can, saves you a lot of time, spray it on, then rinse it off.
- and the sanding begins, get some 600,1000,1500,2000, and start with the 600 after you remove the paint,to get the sanding started and any little bit of paint still on there.
-then with your high grade sand paper, soak some squares in some water, the 1000,1500, and 2000(soak each)
-start to sand with the wet sand paper in cirular motions, after some usage the sand paper will loose some grit, start with 1000-1500-2000
- The valve cover will start to get smooother and smoother as time goes on with sanding. dust it off here and there to remove build up.
- use some sort of polish, like Mothers Polish is badass, works great
-clean up.

basically the run down to polishing that valve cover.
