Default o2 sensor

I was having a problem with the o2 sensor. I had it plugged in and the car ran like shit. So I went ahead and pulled it out and the car better. So I replaced it and I went to turn on the car after putting in the new one and it still runs like shit. So what could be the problem I've been checking and still cant figure it out so any info will help.

Try cleaning the connector. Not the o2 sensor Connector but, the one leading to the firewall that the o2 plugs into. You should see clean metal when you get done. Get a voltmeter and a haynes manual compare the voltage/amp rating to manual !! Is your check engine light on ??
Just my .02 cents

Its a boush o2 sensor and yes the check engine light comes on when I go to acclerate the car. Could bad gas be a issue as well. Cause the gas has been in the car for a while would that be the cause for the o2 sensor to send a code as well. That the gas isnt any good and the car isn't able to burn it right. Just some thought I really dont know. Thats the only thing I could think of what coud cause the problem.

was it a direct plug in, or did you have to wire it in? sometimes people wire them wrong. and sometimes, parts are defective.

the reason the car runs better when the light comes on is because the ecu switches over to a different MAP which is programed to keep the car safe by richening it up a bit, and doesnt take any input from the O2 to correct.

Jump the ECU trouble light wires and see what the code is... It could have been the O2 sensor or the O2 sensor circuitry.... All you really need is some wire like an unwound paper clip and stick it into the little socket attached to you ECU...

Are you running OBD0 or OBD1? If you are running OBD0, then you might have the O2 sensors wired in the wrong order (secondary then primary nsead of the correct way: primary then secondary )
